Music is an essential part of life. From birth to death, we can feel the presence of God. Music plays an important role in every culture and society. Indian traditional classical music can be broadly divided into her two categories: Carnatic music and Hindustani music.
Sacred music is created with the help of Shruti, Alankar, Largus and Tara with his seven notes called Saptasvara. The origins of music can be traced back to prehistoric times. Carnatic music originated in southern India during the reign of King Vijayanagara, from the 15th century AD to his 14th century. Purandaradasa composed numerous Kirtanas and is considered the father of Carnatic music.
Later trios such as Thiyagaraja Swamigal, Muthuswami Dikshitar and Shyama Sastrigal popularized the genre. Carnatic Music offers not only vocals, but also all kinds of traditional instruments such as veenas, violins, flutes, mridangams and harmoniums.
Carnatic music serves as the basis for most of South Indian music, including folk and festival music, and has extended its influence to film scores over the past 100-150 years or so.
